How Leopards courier charges are calculated

Leopards contracts vary more between merchants than most. Two stores of similar size can be on materially different structures, so what follows is the shape of the model rather than the numbers in it. For the numbers, read your own card.

The structure

Three things determine every line: the chargeable weight, the lane, and the slab that combination lands in.

Chargeable weight is the higher of the actual weight measured at the hub and the volumetric weight derived from the parcel's dimensions and the divisor in your contract. This is the single most common source of surprise, because it means a large, light parcel is billed on its size rather than its mass. Our volumetric weight calculator works this out.

The lane is classified according to your card’s own geography. Some Leopards contracts express this in city-to-city terms, others in zone bands. Which one you are on is a contract question, not a general fact about the courier — establish it before you attempt any reconciliation, because applying the wrong model produces confident wrong answers.

The slab is the weight band the chargeable weight falls into. Freight moves in steps, not continuously, and rounding runs upward.

Direct or via an aggregator

Leopards is frequently used both directly and as a carrier inside an aggregator’s network. These are not the same reconciliation problem.

On a direct contract you hold the Leopards card and compare against it. Through an aggregator, the consignment appears on the aggregator’s invoice priced on the aggregator’s sheet, and the line must first be attributed to Leopards before it can be checked against anything. If some of your Leopards volume moves each way, keep the two streams separate — see our page on aggregator billing.

What to ask your account manager for

If you intend to check your own invoices, request three things in writing: the slab table with its weight bands, the volumetric divisor, and the treatment of fuel and GST — whether quoted rates include them or whether they are applied separately.

Without those three, reconciliation is not possible. With them, it is arithmetic.

Checking a Leopards invoice

Match on consignment number rather than order value. Compute chargeable weight before anything else. Then find the slab, apply the lane, and compare. Keep weight disputes and lane disputes in separate piles, and file inside your contract’s claim window. The full method is in our guide to reconciling courier shipping charges in Pakistan.

Common questions

Why is my small parcel billed as if it were heavy?

Because volumetric weight exceeded actual weight. Bulky packaging is the usual cause, and reducing box size is often cheaper than disputing the charge.

Do all Leopards merchants pay the same rates?

No. Contracts vary considerably by volume and negotiation, which is why this page describes structure rather than figures.

Can I reconcile Leopards consignments that came through an aggregator?

Yes, but against the aggregator's rate sheet, not your direct Leopards card. Attribute the line to the carrier first.

Pak Shipping Recon handles Leopards consignments both ways — against your direct card, or attributed correctly when they arrive on an aggregator invoice. Free for your first 100 orders.
